Job Summary:
As a Clinical Intern in the Mental Health field, you will work under the supervision of a licensed mental health professional to provide therapeutic services to clients experiencing various mental health concerns. This position offers an invaluable opportunity for hands-on experience and skill development in a clinical setting, while also contributing to the well-being and recovery of individuals dealing with psychological challenges.
Responsibilities:
1. Client Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate clients’ mental health needs, including gathering relevant history, assessing symptoms, and identifying potential diagnoses.
2. Treatment Planning: Collaborate with supervising clinicians to develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, client goals, and evidence-based practices.
3. Therapeutic Interventions: Deliver therapeutic interventions, such as individual counseling, group therapy, family therapy, and psychoeducation, utilizing appropriate modalities and techniques.
4. Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client sessions, progress notes, treatment plans, and other required paperwork in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
5. Case Management: Coordinate with other healthcare professionals, social services agencies, and community resources to facilitate comprehensive care and support for clients.
6. Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development activities, including attending supervision sessions, participating in trainings, and staying current with best practices and emerging research in the field of mental health.
7. Ethical Standards: Adhere to ethical guidelines and professional standards of conduct, maintaining confidentiality, respecting client autonomy, and promoting the highest standards of ethical practice.
8. Cultural Competence: Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and competence in working with clients from diverse backgrounds, respecting their values, beliefs, and identities.
Qualifications
• Enrollment in a Master’s or Doctoral program in marriage and family therapy, counseling, & psychology.
• Completion of coursework in counseling theories, psychotherapy techniques, and psychopathology; ready to provide psychotherapy to clients (with supervision).
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with clients.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development.
• Willingness to adhere to ethical guidelines and maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous experience working or volunteering in a mental health setting.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems and documentation practices.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices in mental health treatment.
• Working towards licensure in MFT, counseling, or psychology (i.e. LMFT, LPCC)
