A substance use assessment—sometimes called a chemical dependency evaluation—is a comprehensive evaluation conducted by a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC). Its purpose is to help determine whether substance use has reached a level of concern and to assess the severity of use or dependence.
This thorough process looks at many areas of life affected by substance use, including emotional, social, physical, mental, spiritual, and occupational well-being. Substance use impacts not only the individual but often affects families and daily routines as well.
At Serenity Circle Counseling, our assessments meet the standards required for court-ordered evaluations and therapy. However, please note that we are not a treatment facility and do not provide court-ordered treatment programs.
In line with Minnesota state law, assessments are completed through a face-to-face interview via telehealth (video conferencing). Typically lasting up to two hours, the assessment covers topics such as:
