A substance use assessment (also known as a chemical dependency assessment) is a thorough evaluation designed to address all areas of life impacted by substance use, including emotional, social, physical, mental, spiritual, and occupational well-being. Chemical use affects more than just the individual—it can disrupt families and lives.
At Serenity Circle Counseling, our assessments meet the standards for court-ordered evaluations and therapy. However, please note that we are not a treatment facility and cannot fulfill the requirements for court-ordered treatment programs.
What is a Chemical Dependency Assessment?
A substance use assessment, also called an evaluation, is conducted by a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC). The purpose of the assessment is to determine whether an individual has a substance use disorder and to assess the severity of their dependence or use.
How is the Assessment Conducted?
In accordance with Minnesota state law, the assessment is performed through a face-to-face interview via telehealth (video conferencing). The assessment typically takes up to two hours and includes questions about:
