Substance Use Assessments

A substance use assessment—sometimes called a chemical dependency evaluation—is a comprehensive evaluation conducted by a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC). Its purpose is to help determine whether substance use may be causing concerns and to better understand the severity and impact of use.

Assessments look at multiple areas of life that may be affected by substance use, including emotional, social, physical, mental, spiritual, legal, and occupational well-being.

At Serenity Circle Counseling, substance use assessments are offered exclusively via telehealth to clients located in Minnesota.

Our assessments can be used for court-ordered evaluation requirements. Serenity Circle Counseling is not a substance use treatment facility and does not provide court-ordered treatment programs.

Assessments are completed through a face-to-face video appointment with a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor. Appointments typically last up to two hours and may include discussion of:

• Past and current alcohol or drug use
• Previous treatment and relapse history
• Legal concerns related to substance use
• Mental and physical health
• Relationships, work, school, and daily functioning
