Substance Use Assessments at Serenity Circle Counseling
A substance use assessment—also known as a chemical dependency evaluation—is a comprehensive evaluation conducted by a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC). Its purpose is to determine whether an individual has a substance use disorder and to assess the severity of their use or dependence.
This thorough process explores multiple areas of life impacted by substance use, including emotional, social, physical, mental, spiritual, and occupational well-being. Substance use not only affects the individual but can also disrupt families and daily life.
At Serenity Circle Counseling, our assessments meet the standards required for court-ordered evaluations and therapy. However, we are not a treatment facility and cannot fulfill the requirements for court-ordered treatment programs.
How is the Assessment Conducted?
In accordance with Minnesota state law, the assessment is performed through a face-to-face interview via telehealth (video conferencing). The assessment typically takes up to two hours and includes questions about:
